Questions people ask
If yours isn't here, ask me during the free consult.
Which Texas cities do you serve?
I see clients anywhere in Texas online, so no matter which city or region you're in, you can access counseling from home. There's no need to come to an office. The practice is based in Spring, and many clients live nearby in The Woodlands, Spring, and Conroe.
Can I get counseling if I'm in Vermont?
Yes, I also license and practice in Vermont. Everything works the same way—sessions are online, fees start at $80 on a sliding scale, and the process is identical.
Do you do couples counseling?
No, I work with individuals one on one, which gives you the space to be completely honest about what you think and want. If your partner wants support too, they're welcome to see their own counselor.
Where do I need to be for sessions?
Anywhere in Texas or Vermont where you can talk freely. You need a private, quiet space where you won't be interrupted.
Do you see clients outside Texas?
Yes, I also see clients in Vermont. Everything else on this site, including fees and the free consult, works the same way.
How do video sessions work?
You'll get a secure link prior to our session. Click it at your appointment time from a phone, tablet, or computer. There's nothing to install on a computer.
How much does it cost?
Sessions start at $80 on a sliding scale, based on what you can afford, and I accept most major insurance plans and EAP benefits. See fees and insurance for the full list.
What happens in the free consult?
It's a 15-minute phone call. You tell me a little about what's going on, ask whatever you want about how I work, and we decide together whether it's a good fit. There's no charge and no obligation.
I don't know yet whether I want to stay or leave. Is that okay?
Yes, many people start exactly there. I won't push you in either direction, and we'll work on getting your head clear enough to decide.
How long will I be in therapy?
It depends on you. Some people come for a handful of sessions to get through a specific decision. Others stay longer while they rebuild, and we'll check in regularly about whether it's helping.
Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients?
Yes. All relationships are welcome: married or not, monogamous or not, queer or straight.
What if I'm in crisis?
This practice can't respond to emergencies. If you're thinking about harming yourself or someone else, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or call 911.
What credentials and experience do you have?
I'm a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a master's degree from Louisiana Tech University and 16 years of clinical experience. I use evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and person-centered therapy.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I accept most major insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Optum, UnitedHealthcare, UMR, and EAP benefits. I can also see you out-of-network if your plan isn't listed.
Can you help me decide whether to stay in my relationship?
Yes, that's something many people work on with me. I won't tell you whether to stay or go—that decision is always yours. My role is to help you think clearly about it and get through whatever comes next.
What is your approach to therapy?
I use evidence-based approaches tailored to what you need, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety and stress, motivational interviewing for decision-making, and person-centered therapy. I focus on practical tools you can use in your life.
How do I know if therapy is helping?
We check in regularly about what's working and what isn't. Some people feel relief after the first session. Others need a few weeks to notice changes. If you're not sure, let me know and we can talk about adjusting the approach.
Just call me
It's 15 minutes, it's free, and there's no sales pitch. Tell me what's going on, ask whatever you want, and see whether I seem like someone you could actually talk to. You don't need to have it figured out first.
